Everything You Need to Know About Airport Transportation for Your Dental Vacation in Playa del Carmen

Choosing to travel abroad for your dental treatment is a meaningful decision. You are investing in your health, your confidence, and your future smile. That is something truly exciting, but we also know it can come with a few nerves, especially when it involves arriving in a new country.

After your flight lands in Cancun, the last thing you should worry about is how to get to your destination. At A1 Smile Design, we genuinely care about making your experience feel easy and comfortable from the very beginning. From the moment you arrive to the day you head back home with your new smile, we want you to feel supported every step of the way.

Our clinic is located in beautiful Playa del Carmen, about 45–60 minutes from Cancun International Airport (CUN). To help you feel prepared and completely at ease, here is everything you need to know about your transportation.

1. Coverage & Destinations

Our standard transportation service is provided within the Playa del Carmen area.

Transfers from/to the Airport from/to other locations farther away: If your accommodation is in other locations such as Tulum, Akumal, Puerto Aventuras, etc., we can arrange airport transfers based on availability. Please contact your dental coordintor to confirm if we can offer that service.

Important: We do not provide daily or local transportation from Tulum or Cancun for clinic appointments.

Pro Tip: If you choose to stay in Tulum or Cancun, please note that you will be responsible for your daily transportation to and from the clinic. We recommend considering this before booking your hotel.

2. Understanding Your Service

To provide the most efficient service, we utilize two different systems:

Arrivals (Airport → Hotel/Clinic): We partner with CABSI, a premier professional transportation firm. They have official offices in every terminal, making them the most reliable way to find your ride.

Departures (Hotel/Clinic → Airport): These are managed by our internal A1 Smile team as a “collective” (shared) service.

* Please note: Because this is a shared service, pickup times are coordinated to align with the overall clinic schedule and other patients’ flight times. We appreciate your flexibility as we work to get everyone to the airport on time.

3. Pricing & The 24-Hour Rule

To provide the most efficient service, we utilize two different systems:

Cost: $60 USD one-way / $120 USD round-trip (covers up to 2 passengers).

Packages: If transportation is included as part of your dental package, please ensure you have this confirmed in writing from your Patient Coordinator.

Notice Required: To guarantee a vehicle is waiting, we require all flight details at least 24 hours in advance.

4. What We Need to Reserve Your Ride

To avoid any confusion or delays, please provide the following details for both arrivals and departures:

  • Flight date & time
  • Airline & flight number
  • Name of Main Contact
  • Amount of passengers (1 or 2)
  • Destination or hotel name
  • Google Maps pin (for Airbnb or private residences)

Look for the official CABSI module inside your terminal. This is your official meeting point.

Check-In

The representative will verify your name and call your driver.

Avoid “Airport Manipulation”: Many people outside the terminal may claim to be “your driver.” Ignore them. Only speak with official CABSI staff at their desk.

6. Arrival Logistics: Delays & Wait Times

We understand that travel doesn’t always go according to plan, so we have established these guidelines to keep you informed:

Flight Delays: Your reservation includes up to 2 hours of waiting time from your flight’s scheduled arrival. If you do not show within that window, it is considered a “No-Show.” Please note that No-Shows are not credited or refunded.

Standard Wait Time: Once you check in at the CABSI desk, your van usually arrives within 20 minutes.

Traffic & External Factors: While we strive for punctuality, heavy transit due to  road accidents, rush hours or high season congestion can occasionally cause longer wait times. We appreciate your patience as we work to get you to your destination safely.

7. Credits & Non-Use Policy

If transportation is included in your package and you choose not to use it (or are a “No-Show”), we do not provide credits or refunds unless explicitly negotiated with your agent in advance.
